School Uniform Abolition Bill 2004
A Bill to allow for individual differences by abolishing the wearing of school uniforms by students at all primary schools in New South Wales. The Bill prevents schools from in any way enforcing the wearing of uniforms in schools while allowing for minimum standards such as safety considerations in clothing worn to school.
School Uniform Abolition Bill 2004
The Legislature of New South Wales enacts:
Name of Bill
This Bill is the School Uniform Abolition Bill 2004Commencement
This Bill commences on a day or days to be appointed by proclamation.Abolition of School Uniforms
- This Bill abolishes the following activities from primary schools in New South Wales:
- the design, production or sale of any clothing intended to be a required uniform in a New South Wales primary school;
- any requirement by a school that students must wear items of clothing intended as a school uniform;
- any use of encouragement, enticement, punishment or discrimination towards any student by a school related to the wearing of a school uniform.
- This Bill abolishes the following activities from primary schools in New South Wales:
Allowance for Minimum Clothing Standards
- This Bill does not prevent primary schools from requiring minimum standards of clothing for the following purposes:
- safety and health considerations;
- sporting activities;
- modesty and decency;
- reasonable community standards.
- This Bill does not prevent primary schools from requiring minimum standards of clothing for the following purposes:
